We were doing alot of 1 day no-fixed-itinerary trips, thought why not stay a night so we can continue exploring where where we ended the day before? Hence this 2D in the direction we have not ventured before. It’s always towards Kluang, or East to Mersing. Or when we are down from Malacca or Muar, we tend to skip by Batu Pahat too. Surely this town deserves a recee! It’s not too far from home too …
We stopped by for bak ku teh at Restoran Tong near Skudai. 3 popular dishes here – BKT, steam kampong chicken, steam fish. Luckily they ran out of fish, if not we would have ordered all three dishes! Very delicious but too much!

After lunch, we continued on towards Batu Pahat. Wall murals the first stop as usual. Many featuring food of course!

A local resident recommended that we visit the Dragon King temple. It’s right by the river, guarding the town I think. Very interesting temple with lots of statues and photo spots. Nearby there are also old school coffeeshops and street food during dinner time

And then we saw the batu, held up in position by a fountain of water!

Next morning, we started at the New Old Market, unfortunately many stalls were closed. We found more wall murals instead, and a turtle soup restoran. So good!

After that another recommended temple visit, saw a hiking spot and a group of hikers who invited us to join them. Not properly attired, but we would try to visit again some time!
