6D Road Trip KL-Seremban-Port Dickson-Malacca-Muar-JB

23-28/12/25
The road trip that took a long time to finalise. Maybe that’s why I like couple travel, and going solo. Minimal planning prior to trip, last minute decisions and really going with the flow.

With only 7D6N and several places to cover, we can’t go too far north. So many places we discovered when we did our trip to Thailand, I wish we can bring the girls there! On this itinerary is Farm in the City, waterfall, camping, hiking and definitely a beach stop. Putting them together, this came about

we are equipped for 4, even 5 on a camping trip!
Our trusty car which has brought us as far as Thailand. I’m going to miss it!

Day 1 Yong Peng 23/12/25
Started the drive in the afternoon, and arrived in Yong Peng in search for dinner. We usually avoid driving at night, hence a break before a longer drive tomorrow. Hotel staff recommended a Chinese eatery that’s frequented by locals. It’s good and truly the taste of home-cooked goodness.

Day 2 Yong Peng – KL – Seremban 24/12/2025
Day 2 starts with eating again. Checking out the famed fish ball here. Found one in a nearby food court, along with dim sum. Love the texture of the fish balls. When pumping petrol, we saw another one opposite the road. Google check showed it’s a popular one. But I much preferred the one we had earlier. Simple, no fanfare but better. Better in taste, in service and pride in what’s being served.

After breakfast we continued towards KL. Today will be full day at Farm in the City. On another road trip through Bentong, we chanced upon their other petting farm, named Bentong Farm. Passed by while on way to Chamang waterfalls, and decided to pop in for a recee on way out. The little time we had left on that day wasn’t enough! Such a huge farm, very interactive, and rangers who love sharing their wealth of knowledge! So we made a mental note to have to check out their farm in KL as well.

Since it’s a petting farm, buying a box of animal feed is a must. We each got one, ready to get into action. Especially with the racoon! We had a great time feeding and interacting with them in Bentong, here there is a racoon hugging session. But of course it’s subject to last minute cancellations, dependent on their mood. I guess it’s not easy to be transferred amongst so many pairs of arms within a short time. Hope we are lucky today! Here’s just some of the animals at the farm – this is just a small fraction of them!

Farm in the City did not disappoint at all. We were impressed by how the rangers interact with their charge, being highly sensitive of their needs and understanding their temperaments. Highly recommend also to visit the one at Bentong, about 1.5hr away.

Tonight, we stayed in Seremban. For a headstart next day. It’s camping night at the waterfalls and we wanted to arrive early to enjoy the waters!

Seremban town – there’s a pasar malam near our hotel! Pasar Malam in Malaysia is interesting, lots more to offer. It’s a feast for the eyes even if you don’t plan to buy anything. The street is closed and finding a place to park is a big mission. Another bad news is the food court we like is closed. Infact many eateries are. We were hungry and wanted a proper meal, not snacks. We settled for a western food restaurant. It’s Christmas season and it’s packed. We were thankful to be given a table, but I think they couldn’t cope with the crowd, nor the cooking.

Day 3 Seremban – Kuala Pilah 25/12/2025

For breakfast we found another neighbourhood, what looked like the old town in Seremban, with lots of old school coffee shops. Settled in one for noodles, bought some traditional pastry n cakes, did our marketing in NSK and finally ready for the next destination. Camping at the waterfalls!

Almost 2pm when we arrive at the trailhead to the campsite. Instructions seemed dated, we couldn’t find any gate as per the given video. After some retracing and contacting the owner via Whatsapp – luckily there’s still signal here – we finally found the correct path! Before I made any booking for campsites, I made it a point to check if they are accessible by car. Much as I loved a rugged terrain, there is so much our car can handle. This one is no different. Reassured that a sedan is fine. However the loose gravel path and steep incline at the final section left us in cold sweat as our poor car struggled upwards, engine working extra hard! But now’s not the time to worry about this. Thankful for my hubby’s excellent driving skills, bringing us plus car safely to the campsite.

Cascades is different from other campsites we have camped before. It’s private – only one party can book at one time, the whole place! There’s 2 platforms for setting up tents, fully equipped kitchen, toilets, shower with hot water, BBQ area and the lovely waterfall just steps away from your tent. There’s a bigger one which requires a longer hike, guided, but that will have to be next round.

We spent the rest of the afternoon choosing a site, setting up our tents, splashing in the water and later playing with fire to get our dinner started.

We were told that they are planning to build a paved road soon.

Day 4 Kuala Pilah – Port Dickson 26/12/2025
After breakfast, check out and drive further South to Port Dickson. For the beach. And a hike.

The Airbnb we booked is pretty close to the beach. It looks aged but room is fine for a night. There is a back gate with direct access to the beach. It’s too late to hike at Bukit Batu Putih when we arrived so leaving that itinerary for tomorrow morning. Headed for the water activities but tides not good either. We spent the rest of the time chilling in the condo pool and exploring the area, and more eating.

Day 5 Port Dickson- Malacca – Muar 27/12/2025
Next morning, we had to make a decision. Hike or beach? only one day left here. Doubtful that we will have time for both. Skies looks grey, and since it’s hiking again the next day, it’s unanimous votes for the beach. We have passed by PD so many times, always some reasons and missing this hike. Writing this post now, I’ll have to add that we met a lovely couple from PD during our CBL hike. We talk about Batu Putih – makes me drool once again!

At Kemang beach, there’s a slew of water activities! We took the package one, which works out to RM50/pax/ride. Be careful not to opt for the cheaper ride – they are shorter in duration – they are usually less thrilling! Ask for capsize for all rides – you won’t regret it!

Parking, paid toilets, shower all available. Lots of food outlets too, including their version of KFC!

Tonight dinner is at Malacca, and where else but satay celop! My husband would even do a day trip from home just for that!

Day 6 Muar – Parit Jawa 28/12/2025
We stayed at a homestay in Muar last night, 30min away from the trailhead in Bukit Mor. Bought some bread from 7-eleven for breakfast. Everything else are closed. It’s a good thing we had our dinner at Malacca before heading over. Staying in Malacca would not have been ideal since we wanted to do a sunrise hike. We already skipped Bukit Putih, we can’t skip this too!

Bukit Mor is what I remembered it to be. A good hike to burn off excess that’s we’ve been eating on the trip! The trail to the left is steeper, which we took during ascend, and the gentler trail through the middle which we used during descend.

After Bukit Mor, we headed back to Muar to tapau otah! There are many, and this came highly recommended from a friend who’s a local here! It’s the best I’ve tried! Loaded with seafood, very tasty. They even have a coriander version. Comes in a foil tin for steaming or banana wrapped, great for BBQ! Lady boss said it’s also available in JB City Square, at slightly higher prices.

On our way back, took a wrong road. The wrong turn became a bonus! A durian wholesaler. Of course we had to stop to grab some! Good stuff!

Ended the trip in another Airbnb near Tuas, lovely room, full condo facilities. One more night before heading home next morning. And that ends our week long road trip. Looking forward to more! Sometimes I wish to be overseas, living a van life!
