Gunung Angsi Hike

At 825m elevation and 4.5km one way, we know this hike will be less intense than Gunung Datok. When we arrived at the trailhead, we were told that from Oct 2025, a guide will be needed. Thankful that we made it before it kicks in. it’s not about the guide, we just prefer the free and easy way we can arrange our trips without being tied down to any dates.

We put up in Seremban the night before, at One Heritage Hotel. It’s right next to a huge hawker centre – lots of options for dinner. For breakfast, there is a market nearby. We arrived at the trailhead at 8am. Registration at RM20/pax. There are two starting points – Bukit Putus or Ulu Bendul, or just do a trans Angsi to cover both. We picked the easier one via Bukit Putus, with an elevation gain of 612m.

The hike is relatively flat at the beginning, with very clear distance markers, with a few open views points. Mostly uneventful except for an area with some fallen trees, and one where we had a near accident knocking against a branch across the path,

The last section “6min to summit” and we arrived at the peak. Not much of a view. We heard the sound of gushing water near the peak but wasn’t sure the source. Gunung Datok and Gunung Angsi are both in Negiri Sembilan and less than 50km apart. For best view and climbing excitement, I would definitely pick Datok. However, perhaps the trail via Ulu Bendul might be more interesting too? Check out the video clip of today’s hike!
