Another of our spur of the moment “let’s go JB trip”. We just had our lunch, and we were at Tuas. Pontian is one of the districts nearest to the Second Link. In the short half day trip, I amassed over 300 photos/videos, reduced to 200 after deleting the NG ones. Here’s some of them, along with the places we visited.
Crossing via the second link was a breeze at this hour. Before long, we are heading to Gelang Patah and crossing Sungai Pulai bridge and then into a small road with kampongs on both sides. Once in a while, a makeshift stall pops up along the sides of the road, very convenient for a quick meal or drink, or durian! A giant pineapple signage caught our eye – Jermanpine. Since Pontian is known for its pineapple plantation, we had to try! It’s a cute little roadside cafe, offering Malay dishes, pizza, pasta etc, and of course pineapple juice. There’s also a little pool for kids, and ATV tour of the plantation. Very neat and clean and frinedly service!

Continuing along the coast, we found Uncle Tan’s Stingless Bee Farm. Uncle Tan is an young man with huge knowledge – not just on bees. In the farm, one could see many DIY and recycling projects, including a penthouse unit and in-progress chalet bus. Lots of airplants too, and if you are lucky – we were! – pineapple and soursop was just harvested! The raw honey tasted different – it’s watery and sour – it tasted like a honey vinegar mix. While I choked on the first taster, I ended up buying two big bottles!

Next was a homestay. On the map it’s at the end of the road at the forested area, something worth checking out. The last review was 11 months ago, it appeared to have been in an abandoned state. Sad, though it was a really nice coastal walk, meeting many cows along the way! Reminds me on Mongolia – on our first visit to Terejl. I even picked dried cow dung!

By now it’s almost sunset. Heading to the seaside – the place is quiet, but it’s a busy place for the trawlers and fishing community. I like how time seem to have become frozen here, the same feeling we had last visit years ago. A perfect place to just sit, relax and enjoy the sunset, immersing in the chirping of the birds in the neighbouring trees.
