Day Trip from Ulanbaator – Genghis Khan Complex, Manushir Monastery

Doing a 2 itinerary day trip from Ulanbaator this weekend. First stop to Genghis Khan Monument Complex, just over 50km away from the city centre. Standing at 40m tall, the stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan on horseback, right hand holding the whip, and looking towards his birthplace in the East.

We took a lift to mid level, then continue up a series of stairs through the neck of the horse before reaching a viewing platorm. Looking at the majestic Genghis Khan, towering over the visitors and the gers below, it does exude the powerful feeling of having the world under his command!

First thing we see are the eagles and camels! Couldn’t resist a photo
Hump’s so soft n fury!
look at his tuft of hair

Inside the building a giant sized gutuul, a traditional leather boot, and a mock up interior of the ger
