Aglag Meditation Centre, about 100km northwest of Ulanbaator, was built by a Buddhist monk. It’s up a mountain and provides a scenic hiking trail through pine forests, rock carvings and formations. This is another must visit place, possible on a day trip from UB.
Our day starts after leaving the horse camp, in search for lunch. It’s a long bumpy ride from Terejl, across windy roads, dirt paths, rolling fields and endless mountains. We chanced upon a little shop. We had a noodle soup and some breads. I love fats but I don’t like the taste of lamb, and certainly not huge pieces of fats like these being served. And they generally serve only milk tea or some kind of dairy based drinks. Guess I’m not so adventurous with food. I miss coffee too, but that’s rare in the small countryside local eateries. Usually available from cafe or coffee houses, or at pit stops along the main roads for long distance drivers.
