So many beaches! Spoilt for choice here! Bondi is popular, but it’s too touristy. Locals recommend Cronulla, Wylie, Coogee which are all great except though we preferred somewhere accessible via ferry. Perhaps when there is more time we should check out each beach, but for this weekend, we are heading to Manly!
Wanted to try the fish and chips at Meadowbank, unfortunately it’s closed. We had brunch at Bencino cafe nearby – cauliflower n spinach wrap and a ham n cheese roll. Both are yummy! So is the coffee.

After that it’s a train ride to Strathfield, transferring to another train to Circular Quay. By now we are quite familiar with the different trains and platforms. After 2 trains, 1 ferry and 1 bus ride, and many crazy hair dances later, we arrived at Manly!

Manly beach stretches from the wharf and further north. We are planning to check out the wormhole, at the far end of Manly. If a worm had created that hole, it must be a giant worm! Keeping left along the coasts, we quickly reached what read “enter at own risk”. What follows looks like a tunnel or a cave. At the light breaks, it’s a beautiful lookout point on the coastline and the crashing waves! It’s amazing how the shoreline is shaped by the waters smashing against the rocks!

Back towards civilisation side, we had to try what’s it like swimming in a rock pool. It’s essentially a tidal pool, filled during high tides. Cleaning takes place weekly until “pool refills”. I’m guessing they drain our the water during low tide? And that the pool might be closed between a cleaning until the next tide comes in? I’ve read that in some other rock pools, one can literally swim with the fish, and even catch sea urchin! Imagine uni!!

Manly feels like a highly developed residential area, unlike Watson’s Bay. Lots of shops and restaurants near the wharf. Once again, it’s fish and chips and our second time to Anita Gelato. It’s the best!

Here’s the video clip of today’s trip – enjoy!
