There is so much good food here! Every trip, I’m discovering new ones. Will keep adding to this post!
The one that always pop up when we search for Kluang top recommendations – The Rail Cafe! These were taken in 2023, on my first visit. There’s two outlets (maybe more now?) but we were told that the one at the Rail station is better. I have not returned to that cafe since. Not that it’s not good – but I’m usually too hungry to Q by the time we arrive!

Most eateries do not open through the day. Good idea to check the operating hours before popping over. This one is where we headed for dinner. The entire stretch houses many food stalls, these came recommended by Zhiwei – ckt and ikan bakar. Good stuff! I love the cockles from the ckt stall, ikan bakar is excellent! Specially the baby stingray! There is so much good food in Kluang, really nice to have a local pointing to the right places. If you are new to Lambak and Kluang, I highly recommend my guide Zhiwei! Not just for the hike, but for the many hidden dining corners! Here’s a sample …

This one seems to have longer operating hours. For breakfast and lunch, dim sum and noodles is available. At night they do mookata too!

“Flat lou” such an affectionate sounding name! The place derived its name from the flats in this area, presumably government subsidised flats? There are two rows of coffee shops and in between, in the open space, comes alive at night with hawkers showcasing their food! I am sure there is alot of history and story behind all these shops, and many “old taste” ones. Definitely worth many more revisits

On the day of our sunrise hike, we ended early. Since we didn’t have lunch at the summit, we decided to go for roti chennai once down. I love malaysia’s roti chennai. Always crisp on the outside, fluff on the inside. Defiinitely made fresh and served piping hot with an assortment of curry and sambal! Ooooohhh I can’t wait! And there’s lots more the coffeeshop offers. The charsiew looked really good, but it’s sold out. The curry puff looks inviting too …
